Made in New Zealand in Dunedin …

At 12 noon on May 31 students from Dunedin intermediate schools, gathered in the Octagon to share `Made in New Zealand’, the winning song of the 2010 Music Month Song Competition by Katherine Muir, Nikki Taylor and Amber Le Compte. Students enjoyed singing along with the band Cult Disney (Olivia Canny, Kaine Harington and Jamie Macdonald), the Dunedin Mayor, Peter Chin, and the organizer, Errol Moore.  It was also great to see Peter Hodgson in the audience and passes by stopping to enjoy the music.

Other schools in the area also enjoyed sharing the song. St Clair School was one of those schools, where 350 students sang with great gusto at noon. “Well done Katherine, Nikki and Amber for writing a song that children LOVE to sing. It'll be on our favourites list for many years I'm sure. Well done and thank you the New Zealand Music Music Commistion, MENZA and all those involved in the production and promotion of Hook, Line and Sing-along.” Alison Caldwell, Music Teacher

“This was the first time we have had a national song event in New Zealand other than those biggies like Auld Lang Synge and “thank you very much for your kind donation”. I hope there is momentum to carry the concept forward with a new song in 2011. Thank you to all who gave support and put other pressing matters on the back burner so it could happen. As the song goes, it was wonderful
Kiwi can do.”  Errol
